Ethno-Tourism Infrastructure Development in Meghri

Another smaller initiative is a project launched jointly with UNDP, SDC and Izmirlian Foundation, which aims at improving living conditions of impoverished population of Meghri community through ethno-tourism infrastructure development. Under the project, a traditional crafts centre is established aiming at contributing to the development of ethno-tourism in the region. The main objective of the project is to improve the living conditions in Meghri and neighbouring villages through establishing a facility where traditional crafts will be restored to life. The facility will give the opportunity to the residents of Meghri and neighbouring villages to train their skills in traditional crafts and apply those for employment generation. In addition, the facility will support further development of ethno-tourism by attracting visitors interested in traditional crafts.
