Cultural relations - the business of building trust and understanding between nations - is a vital part of the UK's international relations. The British Council  is the UK's international non-political organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. It operates in 233 towns and cities in 110 countries and territories worldwide.

The British Council aims to build relationships and understanding between people in the UK and other countries and increase appreciation of the UK's ideas and achievements overseas. Cultural relations - the business of building trust and understanding between nations - is a vital part of the UK's international relations. The areas of activities of the British Council include the arts, education and training, teaching English language, science and technology, sport, governance and human rights focusing on creativity, education and civil society.

The British Council started work in Armenia in June 2001 and became fully operational in July 2002 with the arrival of their first Director, Roger Budd. The current staff are:
